Scope of advice

We help clients consider mortgage and protection options based on their circumstances. Before making a recommendation we will explain our service, the range of providers considered, whether the activity is regulated and the terms relevant to your case. The website itself does not provide personal financial advice.

Fees and commission

If a fee is charged, this will always be agreed with you before any chargeable work is undertaken. Before you proceed with advice, we will explain whether a fee applies, its amount and when it is payable, and how we may be remunerated, including any commission from a lender or insurer. Your adviser will provide the relevant service and product documents. Please ask us for our current typical fee details.

Activities outside FCA regulation

Some buy-to-let and commercial mortgages are not regulated by the Financial Conduct Authority. Will writing, trusts, estate planning and tax advice are generally outside FCA regulation, though other professional rules may apply. We will explain which protections apply before you proceed.

Risk warnings

Your home may be repossessed if you do not keep up repayments on a mortgage or other loan secured on it. Think carefully before securing other debts against your home. Equity release reduces the value of your estate and may affect entitlement to means-tested benefits. Protection policies have terms, exclusions and eligibility conditions.

Complaints and compensation

See our Complaints page for how to raise a concern and when you may be able to refer it to the Financial Ombudsman Service. Eligible claims may be covered by the Financial Services Compensation Scheme, subject to its rules and limits.
